So she fastened herself accordingly.

She pinned down the anger.

Closed the mouth.

Softened the edges.

Made herself pleasant, agreeable, grateful, easy.

Not because she was weak.

Because somewhere along the way, goodness became a kind of currency — and belonging was what it bought.

The Good Girl is an exploration of the quiet violence of becoming acceptable: the ways we learn to edit ourselves before anyone else has to ask.

Eventually, the performance becomes so practiced that no one needs to silence her anymore.

She has learned how to do it herself.
