Let’s talk about something most people never think about…
Light.
Specifically, blue light and LED light.
Because if you’re on your phone or under bright LED lighting at night, your nervous system literally thinks it’s the middle of the day.
Blue light suppresses melatonin—the hormone that tells your body it’s time to sleep.
It keeps cortisol higher.
It keeps your brain alert.
So even when you’re tired… your body can’t fully rest.
And over time, that shows up as:
Poor sleep
Eye strain
Headaches
Mood swings
Hormone imbalance
I started noticing this when I was rebuilding my life after my divorce. I was doing all the healing work… but still waking up exhausted.
Then I changed my light environment.
I switched to incandescent bulbs at night.
I use red light tones in the evening.
And I started wearing blue-light-blocking glasses like my Swanwick pair after sunset.
Within a week… my sleep got deeper.
My headaches eased.
My nervous system felt calmer.
Because our bodies evolved with firelight and sunset—not bright white LEDs at 10pm.
So tonight, try something simple:
Dim the lights.
Turn off screens earlier.
Let your body remember darkness.
Your nervous system will thank you 🤍
